Nobody does Mardi Gras better than Kenny! Beads hang year round from the rafters, zydeco music plays every night Kenny is on staff and you feel the New Orleans spice of life while you are dining. Of course, it doesn’t have to be Mardi Gras to enjoy a little cajun spice.
The backstory – Kenny D’s is a beach bar just 1/4 mile from ‘On the Coast of Somewhere Beautiful’ Summerspell 205. It is across the street from the well known Captain Dave’s restaurant. I admit it – we passed it daily but I never thought it would a place I would enjoy. Boy was I WRONG! At the recommendation from a local, we gave it a try. Now it is our first stop when we arrive – even before we go to the condo!
Kenny is a native of New Orleans and knows just the right spices to add to make you say AAEEEYYYYY! The Spicy Mahi Melt is my favorite and the hubby orders the grouper sandwich – we are creatures of habit. We have become regulars so it is almost as though they have our order ready before we sit down. The gumbo is delish too – Miss Macie recently retired but her gumbo recipe is still working! Kenny recently added a full bar to the menu so drop by for a drink and sandwich on the patio. Come as you are – many walk over from the beach to enjoy a quick bite. I promise you’ll thank me for this one!
