If you are in the Destin area you have to plan to dine at Captain Dave’s on the Gulf. Captain Dave’s has been a Destin landmark for over 50 years. The tunnel from the parking lot to the downstairs bar is a hidden gem. Before hurricane Opal we only visited downstairs as our boys enjoyed being on the beach while we enjoyed dinner. After Opal and the damage to the restaurant Captain Dave’s came back better than ever!
Locals as well as tourist enjoy the dining experience offered at Captain Dave’s. With floor to ceiling windows your dinner view is amazing! The menu offers daily specials, local favorites and plenty of options for the entire family. Captain Dave’s is a family favorite and many families have been dining with them for generations.
The menu is complete with appetizers, soups, salads and of course plenty of choices for your entree. My personal favorite is the Grouper Parmesan or the Grouper Jane (during the summer they offer Snapper Jane). There is a full service bar and a drink menu to quench your thirst. Of course, Captain Dave’s is family friendly and offers a full kids menu for the little one.
One last trivia fact – Jaws was filmed in Destin just off the coast of Captain Dave’s. Thank goodness that is the only shark I’ve ever seen there!
Captain Dave’s is located directly on the beach at 3796 Old Hwy 98, Destin, FL. Dress is casual. The restaurant opens daily at 4pm but is closed on Tuesdays.
They also have limited hours during the off season.
